Q: What is Intense Pulsed Light?
A: IPL systems use hand held flash lamps to emit micro pulses of light across a broad band of visible wavelengths. By using gentle pulses of light momentarily to create heat, IPL can permanently disable hair follicles, preventing future growth. Similarly, IPL also achieves excellent long term results when treating thread veins, skin pigmentation, acne and other skin complaints.

Q: Is IPL safe?
A:
IPL is safe, non-invasive, has minimal side effects and requires no recovery time. IPL is gentler than laser and much faster as a larger area can be treated with each flash. We believe it is the most advanced hair removal and skin treatment system available.

Q: How many treatments will I need to notice a difference in IPL Hair Removal?
A: You would need to come in for a consultation to discuss with the therapist.  Usually you would need 4-6 treatments (every 4 weeks) to gain the best results.  A requirement for this treatment is not to wax, pluck or tweeze the hair but only to shave the area during the course of the treatment.

On your first visit, your personal clinician will carry out a detailed consultation and assessment before recommending a treatment plan to suit your individual requirements. Your clinician will also demonstrate the equipment and answer any questions.

We value the comfort and safety of the client very highly and will take the greatest care to ensure that you feel at ease about every aspect of the treatment.

Q: Does IPL hurt?

A:
Not really, although the treatment sensation will vary from client to client. Most of our clients say that it feels like a hot pinprick or the flicking of an elastic band on their skin. Any discomfort is momentary and there is no lasting sensation.

Q: How does IPL work on the skin?
A: When treating unwanted areas of pigmentation, targeted areas momentarily absorb the light and become hot, but not for long enough to burn. This heat breaks down the pigmentation into tiny particles which then either rise to the skin’s surface as scabs which are exfoliated away naturally within 1-2 week, or the particles are filtered away through the lymphatic system in your body. When treating thread veins (or other vascular conditions), the light is absorbed by the oxyhaemoglobin in the blood within the vein, causing the blood to coagulate and the thread vein to break up into particles that can be filtered away naturally through the lymphatic system in your body. When treating fine lines and wrinkles, the light stimulates the growth of collagen which makes the skin feel plumper and more youthful.

Q:  What conditions can IPL Rejuvenation treat?
A:  Imperfections from Sun Damage and Photo-aging
Facial imperfections or abnormalities can detract from your well being an appearance, no matter how healthy and young you feel. IPL technology helps create smoother-looking skin. After a series of treatments, you can see a significant reduction of unwanted pigmentation. The same treatment can be used effectively on the neck, chest, arms and hands.

Broken Veins and Capillaries
The face has an extensive network of veins and tiny blood vessels called capillaries. Over time, aging, trauma, sun exposure, and certain lifestyle factors cause a number of them to break appearing as red streaks or blotches on the face. IPL therapy can eliminate damaged veins and capillaries by removing virtually all traces of these unsightly blemishes.

Redness Caused by Broken Capillaries
Many people suffer from broken capillaries and diffuse erythema, that cause them social embarrassment. For both women and men, IPL can successfully treat dilated blood vessels without injuring the surrounding healthy skin

Q: What is Microdermabrasion?
A:
A method of skin exfoliation using suction and crushed diamonds at the tip of a hand piece that glides across the skin to loosen dead skin cells and gently remove them. When dead skin is removed at a rapid rate (faster than the body sheds them) your body renews your skin at a rapid rate signalling the fibroblast in your dermis to produce collagen, thus plumping fine lines and wrinkles and tightening pores. When the skin is renewing itself at a faster rate, pigmentation slowly pushes to the surface and lightens after several treatments. Acne breakouts are reduced by keeping the pores clear of dead skin and oil preventing infection in the follicle.

Q: Does microdermabrasion hurt?
A:
While you might experience some discomfort with a microdermabrasion treatment from a machine, you should not experience any pain.  Afterwards your skin feels refreshed and ultra-clean.

Q: What should I expect after the microdermabrasion treatment?

A:
Immediately afterwards your skin might feel a little sensitivity, will probably be very smooth to the touch and will probably be pinker or redder than normal.  The day after and for the next three or four days, your skin might feel like it's been sunburned (or actually more like it's been wind burned).  You might experience some peeling and dryness.  It's important to keep the skin well hydrated during this time and to avoid harsh chemicals on your face.  We strongly recommend using our deep tissue oil (skin food) that has been created especially for this treatment during this time.  It's also very important to keep sunscreen on during this time.

It's best to avoid any other skin peeling products for at least several days after your treatments.  You should also avoid any full-face make up like foundations (liquid or powder) for 24 hours after your treatment.

Q: When can I expect to see results?
A: There will be results after the first treatment. Generally though the things most people are treating for will really show results after about five treatments (thus the recommendation that most treatment centres give for 6 sessions).

Q: Do I have to continue doing the treatments once I start?

A:
After the first 6 treatments, a week or two apart, most people will want to do a follow up treatment once a month.  Without the follow ups your skin will not suddenly revert back to its former skin tone.  So, they are not absolutely necessary.  But, most people, once they have their skin looking so great, want to keep it that way.

Q:  What is Biomesosculpture?
A:
Biomesosculpture is a fat breakdown system which creates a reduction of visible cellulite and congestion anywhere on the body. It stimulates the extra cellular matrix or the fluid substance just under the skin, to treat the first stage of cellulite, which is stagnation, and the second stage which is cellulitis.

Q: Are Biomesosculpture results permanent?

A: The conclusions in the Dr Tan study are based on before and after MRI scans which were taken for each patient. These scans show a consistent reduction of fat for the abdominal patients – whether in liposuction, mesotherapy or any other treatment a real fat loss is considered permanent.

Q: Is stagnation a cause of cellulite?

A:
In the conclusions of the Dr Tan study based on his MRI results, Dr Tan says “Diamond Contours machine is effective in reduction of stagnation and promotion of lymphatic drainage which are both important causes of cellulite.

Q: What is the Diamond Medilift?
A: The Diamond Medilift is an advanced, non invasive, non surgical approach to skin and body care.  Muscles become more defined, fat is melted away, skin is lifted, and lymphatic drainage is increased; all through the aid of a safe, controlled electrical current.

Q: How does it work?
A:
The Diamond Medilift contains Quadri-Functional Muscular Stimulation (QFMS), which used four advanced wave form therapies to work with the body’s natural currents and put the face and body through a premium workout.  The machine also contains a specialized galvanic mode.

Q: What is the Diamond Dynamic Wave?
A:
This unique system features four distinctive waveforms:

  • Body Contouring – Fat Mobilization 0 inch loss – Diamond waveform 5-99
  • Electro Muscle Stimulation – Muscle Lift – Tones and defines muscle
  • Micro current – Facial Lift – Lifts and tightens skin and assist with wrinkle reduction
  • Galvanic – Disencrustration – Deep Cleanse – Iotophoresis – Product Penetration
Q: How long does a treatment take?
A: Treatment times range between 20 and 90 minutes, however you are in and out the door within 1 hour.

Q: How many treatments are necessary?

A: This is based on several variables, including personal goals, age, overall health and fitness.  For the most part, when you begin a corrective series to reduce fat and tone muscle, your client will need to commit to a minimum of two treatments a week for six weeks, totalling twelve treatments.  Some clients may reach their goal at this point; however, many clients will require a series of 24 treatments to achieve optimum results.  Once the client has reached their goal it will be necessary to set up a maintenance program – once a month is typically enough to sustain results.

Q: When will I notice a change?

A:
Most people will see an immediate change in the tone and texture of their skin; however this will be a temporary effect.  After the fourth or fifth treatment you and your client should be able to see inch loss and/or muscle tone (depending on what you’re targeting).  The tone of the skin should also be sustaining results between treatments at this point.  The remaining treatments will be necessary to remove excess fat and continue toning and tightening muscle.  It may be helpful to explain this procedure to your client by equating it to exercise; it takes several hours in a gym before you notice in your body even longer to reach your goals.

Q: What else should be done in conjunction with treatments?

A: Overall results can be enhanced by proper nutrition and a personally developed exercise program.  Finally, ensure you drink plenty of water.
